Mother Bessie Howell was born October 27th, 1942 in Camden, NJ. She was educated in the Cherry Hill Public School system. Mother Bessie was saved at the young age of 11 at Mount Olive Baptist Church in Haddonfield, NJ under the leadership of Reverend Jesse Talton.
Baptist since age 11, her personal relationship with Christ was initiated in 1985 while going through a difficult separation. Mother Bessie was drawn to Tabernacle of Faith COGIC by her sister. It was through her attendance at seven o’clock prayer and being on the altar that she received healing beginning her personal relationship with Jesus. Mother Bessie has been a member of Tabernacle of Faith ever since. Under the leadership of the late Bishop Hillmon Moses she was elevated to the title of Mother in 1998.
Mother Bessie has diligently worked for the ministry in various forms. She has served in the Sunday School Department, Children’s Church, Choir, Mass Choir, Mother’s Board, Noon Day Prayer and Women of Class Ministry. However, being a nurse for many years, allowed her the privilege of taking care of the late Bishop Moses while he was ill both in Canada and New Jersey.
Mother Bessie’s two favorite scriptures are:
Psalm 19:14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD,
my strength, and my redeemer
Psalm 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me
They are her favorite because it’s so important to keep renewing the spirit daily.
To God by the Glory for what He has done in Mother Bessie’s house.
